Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of the TrailForge app and this website. By using either, you agree to them. TrailForge is provided by Byte-Sized Systems.
The one that actually matters. TrailForge gives training and fuelling guidance, not medical advice. Its recommendations follow published sports-nutrition consensus and general training principles — they are not personalised clinical advice, and no doctor or dietitian has reviewed your situation. Use your own judgement, and talk to a qualified professional before making significant changes, especially if you have a medical condition, take medication, are pregnant, or have a history of gastrointestinal or cardiovascular problems.
Your account
You may use TrailForge as a guest or sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your device and sign-in provider secure. You must be at least 16 to use the app.
Guest accounts are tied to that installation. If you sign out of a guest session, delete the app, or lose the device without first linking an Apple or Google account, that data cannot be recovered — there is no identifier left to recover it with. The app warns you before this happens.
Acceptable use
- Don't attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service or its backend.
- Don't upload unlawful content, or content you have no right to use.
- Don't use the service to build a competing dataset, or scrape it automatically.
- Respect the terms of the services you connect — Garmin's and Strava's terms continue to apply to your data on their platforms.
Your content
Your training data, routes and plans remain yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, process and display that data back to you so the app can function. We claim no ownership, and we do not use your content to promote TrailForge without asking you first.
Third-party services
TrailForge depends on services we don't control — Garmin, Strava, Apple WeatherKit, Mapbox and Apple's push notifications among them. If one of those changes its terms, its pricing or its availability, the corresponding feature may degrade or disappear. We are not responsible for those services, and connecting them is your choice.
Availability
We aim to keep TrailForge running but make no uptime promise. We may suspend the service for maintenance, or discontinue it entirely. If we discontinue it, we will give reasonable notice and a way to retrieve your data.
Disclaimers and liability
TrailForge is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. Distances, elevation, pace, grade-adjusted pace, calorie estimates, forecasts and fuelling figures are estimates derived from third-party data and models. They can be wrong. Do not rely on them for navigation, for safety, or as your only input to a decision in the mountains.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or loss arising from your reliance on the app's estimates or guidance. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Payment and subscriptions
TrailForge is free to download, and it stays useful without paying: the training log, fuelling and aid-station planning, the post-run check-in, and training plans of up to six weeks are all free, as is a limited number of new routes each month.
TrailForge Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that adds training plans longer than six weeks, unlimited route creation, race and backyard-ultra planning, and side-by-side activity comparison. Editing content you have already created is never gated.
- Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and are set in App Store Connect. Apple may adjust them for currency or local tax.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial.
- Manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings. Uninstalling the app does not cancel it.
- Purchases are made from Apple, not from us. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy — we cannot issue them. Ask through reportaproblem.apple.com.
- If we change what Pro includes or what it costs, we will tell you before it affects you. An existing subscription is never charged more without your agreement.
Cancelling Pro does not delete anything. Content that needed Pro to create stays in your account and stays readable and editable; you simply cannot create more of it until you subscribe again.
Ending it
You can stop using TrailForge at any time. To delete your account and everything in it, use Profile → Account → Delete Account in the app; the privacy policy sets out exactly what that removes. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription — cancel that in your Apple Account settings. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will say so in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use TrailForge afterwards means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Norwegian law, and disputes fall to the Norwegian courts. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence.
